Cremation Options
When you choose cremation, a cemetery provides a final resting place and a place of remembrance for family and friends.
An urn may be placed in a columbarium, an above-ground structure made up of small compartments called niches. Numerous options are available inside and outside of the mausoleum complex, and across the cemetery grounds. An urn may also be placed in a ground burial space in one of our beautiful memorial gardens. Below you will find more information about your options.
Rose Garden Niches
Prices starting at $2,500
The Rose Garden is located near the cemetery gates and offers cremation niches faced with polished black granite. The graceful pergola and lovely rose bushes make this a tranquil space for remembrance and contemplation.
Niches are available on both the north and south-facing sides of the wall.
Tranquility Courtyard Columbarium
Prices starting at $3,300
The Tranquility Courtyard is a beautiful oasis within the mausoleum complex. Two columbarium structures faced with Carnelian granite provide cremation inurnment for individuals or companions.
A soothing ambience is created by fountains, statuary art and beautiful plantings throughout the Courtyard.
Whiting & Abbey Chapel Glass-Front Niches
Prices starting at $1,500
Glass-front niches are available indoors within the Historic Abbey and Whiting Abbey portions of the mausoleum complex. Niches can be decorated with mementos and photographs. Each niche is individually lit and include the option of an engraved brass plate if the urn is not already engraved.
Niches are available in individual, companion and deluxe companion sizes.
Harmony Stained Glass Niches
Prices starting at $2,500
Located within Whiting Abbey within the mausoleum complex, the Harmony stained glass niches are situated to allow the afternoon light to pour beautifully through the stained glass. Niches are sized for one person but can be purchased side-by-side for companions and include engraving on a brass plate. The wheat motif of the decorative stained glass panel is duplicated in windows throughout Whiting Abbey.
Whiting Abbey Mausoleum Niches
Prices starting at $1,750
The southeast portion of Whiting Abbey is home to the Whiting Abbey Mausoleum niches. These niches are decorated with engraved bronze plaques. Silk flower memorials may be placed on the bench facing the niches.
Sunrise & Sunset Mosaic Niches
Prices starting at $2,000
Located inside Whiting Abbey, these glass mosaic niches are true works of art. The Sunrise and Sunset themes are beautifully interpreted in glass mosaic pieces bordered with 24-carat gold leaf. The mosaic fronts for each niche are handmade and set into polished bronze frames. Each niche has its own removable full-size bronze urn.
Bronze & Glass-Front Niches
Prices starting at $400
The bronze & glass-front niches are located within the mausoleum complex between the office entrance and the Historic Abbey Chapel, with convenient access from the mausoleum entrance. As one of the original cremation features within Mount Hope, openings have become limited, but niches for individuals and companions are still available.
Serenity Glass-Front Niches
Prices starting at $1,375
The Serenity Glass-Front niches are located just past the Historic Abbey Chapel within Whiting Abbey. Space is available within most levels for individuals, companions and families. Niches may be decorated with mementos and photographs.
Family Niche Room
Prices starting at $1,250
The Family Niche Room is located in the lower level of the mausoleum. Marble-fronted niches are adorned with bronze plaques. Silk flower memorials may be placed on the bench.
Capitol Granite Niches
Prices starting at $1,150
Located in a sheltered spot on the west side of the Whiting Abbey Mausoleum, the Capitol Granite niches are available in both individual and companion sizes.
One group of niches is decorated with an etching of the State Capitol building, and the other by the Great Seal of the State of Kansas, which displays elements from our state’s unique history.
Garden of Prayer
Prices starting at $2,000
The Garden of Prayer is located near the southwest corner of the cemetery. Enclosed by a wrought-iron fence, the Garden offers in-ground cremation memorials (known as cremorials) for individuals and companions. Each space is marked with a bronze marker on Sunrise Pink granite and includes a bronze flower vase.
Good Shepherd Niches
Prices starting at $1,500
Cremation niches are also available outdoors in the Good Shepherd Columbarium, located in the Sunrise memorial garden on the east side of the cemetery. The back side of the columbarium depicts the Good Shepherd.
Community Ossuary
Prices starting at $395
Our community ossuary is an economical option for memorialization. Remains will be placed in a community chamber and your loved one's names and dates will be added to the memorial plaque. The ossuary is located within the Rose Garden pavilion near the main cemetery gates on 17th Street.
Urn Burial
Prices starting at $1,400
Many people do not realize that when they choose cremation, they can still select a ground burial space in a memorial garden. This provides flexibility for the use of a space in a pre-existing family plot, or to select a space from any of our beautiful gardens.

You may choose a traditional garden marker for placement on a burial space, or a special cremation memorial which holds the cremated remains in a bronze receptacle.
